Bree: “You don’t have to wash those. I already did them.”
Orson: “Oh, I found some streaks. So, I’m wiping them down with undiluted red wine vinegar.”
Bree: “I’ve never heard of that.”
Orson: “Oh, sure. And for tougher spots I use a fifty-fifty mix of denatured alcohol and water. And for those really intractable stains, I mean, we’re talking shower doors, I wipe on laquer thinner with a towel.”
Bree is breathing heavily and staring at Orson.
Orson: “Bree?”
Bree grabs Orson and kisses him passionately. She drags him into the bedroom. The kitchen faucet is still on.

streak_orson.jpgAs much as I love the beauty and simplicity glass, I hate how hard it is to clean it. Its like you have to go an extra mile to ensure that there are no streaks! Since we don’t own wineglasses at home, I can’t really try what Orson recommends. I certainly will if we ever do buy a set! I’m not sure if his suggestions can be applied to glass windows, mirrors, and tabletops. But, I already know a method of cleaning glass without streaks. It certainly won’t make your significant other horny but it will definitely get rid of your streaks! The secret is in two components, newspaper and vinegar.

Rex: “You haven’t done that yet?”
Bree: “No, and I need to clean out our rain gutters, and, uh, beneath the refrigerator, and I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve replaced the shelf liner, so…”
Rex: “Then you’ll finish off with our wedding silver.”

Of course, I gave my sons and husband the brute work with the garage and the yards. My daughter helped me in the house like with dusting and polishing. But, there is one place in the house where my family balks to clean, the bathroom. They are such wimps! So, I always end up cleaning it. Cleaning the bathroom always conjures up old memories of my college days when I had to take up a janitor job to pay for my school bill. I hated every minute of it! But, it did teach me a couple of things that helped me later in life as a “domestic goddess.”

There are a couple a shows that I love to watch when my kids are at school. Occasionally, I watch Days of Our Lives. I used to be a “daysaholic.” foldshirt.jpgBut lately, its been getting boring. Now, I’m into watching Oprah and Martha Stewart. They are so much more inspiring and resourceful then soaps.

Bree on the Martha Stewart Show

I remember an episode when Marcia Cross was the special guest on the Martha Stewart Show. They talked about Marcia’s role as Bree Van De Kamp, how it compares to her real life, and how Bree often is compared to “Martha Stewart on Steroids.”
